Tea for three

Tea for three
Selwyn and Company produced this three-act Roi Cooper Megrue comedy at Maxine Elliott's Theatre, where it opened on 19 September 1918 for 300 performances. The Husband is jealous, so the Wife and the Friend stage a harmless tryst to teach the Husband a lesson. When the Husband believes the Friend has committed suicide, he comes to his senses and all are reconciled. The novel use of generic descriptives instead of specific character names gave the otherwise lightweight play a universal quality. A silent motion picture adaptation was released in 1927.
